Here are some links to websites that I find interesting and important.

Friends and Associates:
-
Joan Armatrading
A great singer-songwriter-guitarist. I toured with her in 1979.
-
Eric Byak
A wonderful guitarist, playing Brazilian smooth jazz, funk and fusion. He's also a fellow teacher at Charles Music in Glendale.
-
Dina Bennett
A wonderful singer and good friend, appearing regularly in local L.A. jazz clubs. She's a former member of Red and the Red Hots.
-
Rebecca Kyler Downs
Another great local L.A. singer and former member of Red and the Red Hots.
-
Rick Hirsch
A great blues and southern rock guitarist, former member of Wet Willy. I met Rick when we toured together with Joan Armatrading in 1979, and he's been a close friend ever since. He's also a "Beater."
-
Kelley Hunt
A wonderful blues and gospel-flavored singer-songwriter and boogie-woogie pianist. I worked with her on a live album a few years ago.
-
Luther Kent
Luther is a fantastic blues singer, strongly influenced by Bobby "Blue" Bland. I worked with him for two years in New Orleans, and more recently with the "Forever Fabulous Chickenhawks" at Antone's in Austin.
-
Cassie Miller
Another wonderful jazz singer, dear friend and alumnus of Red and the Red Hots.
-
Jerry Peterson
A great saxophonist, friend and fellow "Beater." We've played together with Billy Vera since 1979.
-
Vonda Shepard
I first saw Vonda at "At My Place," a great westside nightclub (no longer open, unfortunately) when she was 19 years old. I used to sit in with her regularly when she appeared at Genghis Cohen in West Hollywood.
-
Skip Spratt: The Sax Shed
Skip Spratt interviewed me for the Saxophone Journal. This is his extremely informative website. All sax players will find this site interesting and educational.
-
Brian Swartz
A great local jazz trumpet player, friend and former "Red Hot."
-
Curtis Swift
A new "internet" friend. He's done hundreds of saxophone transcriptions, including my alto solo on "We're In This Love Together" by Al Jarreau.
-
Billy Vera
The "Leader-Beater," and great singer-songwriter-guitarist. You hear his voice all the time on TV, doing voice-overs (Burger King, AM-PM, etc.)
-
Red Young
The leader of Red and the Red Hots, a popular local swing band. Red and I knew each other in high school back in Fort Worth. I played in his band for 12 years. He now lives in Dallas, where he appears regularly at Django at the Parkway with his soul jazz group.
